The Library Board meeting was called to order by President JoAnn Gemar at 7:03pm on Monday, May 23, 2022. The following board members were present Damon Mogck, Dennis Bietz, and Kim Abbink. Those board members absent were Rachel Starwalt, Nick Smith, and Kristyn Walloch. Others present were Michelle Kass and Tanya Bult.

The February minutes were reviewed.

Statistics - First quarter monthly statistics were reviewed.

Treasurer Report - Beginning Balance of $5,222.40 as of January 1, 2022. One check was written to the school for the “Prairie Pasque” Karen Nelson Memorial. This is the final payout for the 10 year memorial. Ending balance of $4,996.40 as of May 23, 2022. A motion was made by Bietz, second by Abbink to approve the treasurer report. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Library Board Updates - No Library Board updates at this time.

City Library Director Updates - Staff is gearing up for the Summer Reading Program being held in July. Billie Jo and Tanya are getting ready for Library Institute. Library Institute is being held June 12-17 in Aberdeen.

School Librarian Updates - An explanation of the Prairie Bud and Prairie Pasque program was given. Discussion was held regarding young adult (YA) books and the schools guidelines for those books. 

Check-Out Policy for New Technology - A motion was made by Bietz, second by Abbink to only allow the librarians to use the cares grant computer at this time. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Training/Webinars - It was suggested that hours should be accumulated over a three year period. When we apply for accreditation this year, the state library would accept credit hours for 2020, 2021, and 2022. Only library board credit hours count.

Public Concerns - No public concerns at this time.

Next meeting date is set for Monday, August 29, 2022 at 7pm.

With no further business to discuss a motion was made by Mogck, second by Bietz to adjourn the meeting at 7:41pm. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
