The Library Board meeting was called to order by Vice-President Kristyn Walloch at 7:00pm on Monday, March 4, 2024. The following board members were present Damon Mogck, Dennis Bietz, Kim Abbink and Rachel Starwalt. Those board members absent were JoAnn Gemar. Others present were Fallon Woods and Tanya Bult.
A motion was made by Starwalt, second by Abbink to approve the November minutes. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Statistics - Reviewed 2022 and 2023 city monthly circulation statistics.
Treasurer Report - Current balance is $7,646.40.
City Library Director Updates - South Dakota Share-It is a service of the SD State Library. Citizens can search catalogs across the state to request an interlibrary loan. Billie Jo Hays and Tanya Bult are in their third year of library institute.
School Librarian Updates - No report available at this time.
A motion was made by Starwalt, second by Mogck to appoint Becca Vitek to the school district trustee position. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Bietz, second by Mogck to appoint Dean Rettedal to the city trustee position. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Public Concerns - Bietz inquired about the status of the school library position for the 2024-25 school year. It will be discussed as the grant money to pay the school library position this year is no longer available.
Bult thanked Gemar and Starwalt for their time and dedication to the library board for the past six years.
Next meeting date is set for Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 7pm.
With no further business to discuss a motion was made by Starwalt, second by Bietz to adjourn the meeting at 7:21pm. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
